Help please! I am trying to find any information at all about my Great Grandmother Mary Ann (Polly) Littlewood. She lived in the Almshouses at Dewsbury. She had 2 children, my Grandmother, born about 1910 ish, who I think was christened Fanny, but changed her name to Geraldine. I know Geraldine had a brother, but don’t even know his name. Geraldine married Ernest Mail, who I believe came from Huddersfield, he was certainly a proud Yorkshireman. They had a son Gerald, my father, born c.1927. He went to Almondbury Grammar School (now King James’ School), and trained as a pharmacist, moving to London. I remember a Great Uncle Gilbert Yates being mentioned when I was a child, who was said to be a Don at Cambridge. I have tried really hard to find information in the birth, marriage and death internet records and a genealogy site, about all of them but have drawn complete blanks. I have no documents or accurate dates for any of them and know so little about them. I would be very grateful indeed for any information at all.

Yeardon/ Hutchinson
Searching for the birth record of William Hutchinson born April 23, 1823, assumed to be the son of James Hutchinson, and Grandson of Enos Hutchinson of East Witton, North Riding Yorkshire. James Hutchinson was on the 1841 Northallerton Census, and appears to have had a blended family. Further research yielded his marriage to Margret Yeardon at East Witton in 1817, and a son James was also born 1817 in Linton at Craven/Grassington and there may be a brother John also from East Witton farm. Margret died in Middleham/Leyburn in 1821. James married again to Ann Pearson at Middleham in 1823. William was born in 1823 in Northallerton per his 1912 obituary. James‘ 2nd wife Ann also died in Middleham in 1826. James married for 3rd time to Mary Bearpark in 1828 also in Middleham. James died in Leyburn 1858 as did Mary in 1883. William left for the states in 1848 and returned home to marry Mary Bendelow (not Brown) at Thirsk in 1849. They took their son Albert (possibly from a prior marriage), and their other son,, Albert who was born on the Caribbean Sea in 1850, to America and settled in Griggsville Illinois.
Note: Enos/Enes Hutchinson resided with Elizabeth Teasdale in 1841 at East Witton.
James also appears to have other children with Mary Bearpark, but again no birth records have been found.

My great-great-grandparents were named Yeates and lived at Pateley Bridge around the early 1800s. One of their daughters married a man named Bayles, who had four daughters, Harriet, Ann, Elizabeth and Mary. Elizabeth married a Mr Gill and lived at Blayefield. Ann married Mr Pratt and lived at Glasshouses. Mary married Mr Dawson and lived at Haworth. Harriet, my grandmother, married William Metcalfe around about 1880-1. I would be grateful for any information on the Yeates and Bayles families.

I am looking for family in the York/Leeds area with a connection to my Great Grandfather Duncan Carmichael Yeoman. My Great Grandmother died in 1930 and Duncan remarried and moved to the York/Leeds area. I know that he died in January of 1969 aged 73 years and believe he had a daughter called Elsie Dickinson. Would love someone to contact me with information of my Great Grandfather and to hear what he was like as a person.

I am trying to trace back by maternal great-grandfather’s family in Ireland – County Leitrim. William Young (born 1867) who married Sarah Jane Watson (born 1865 died 1896) on 22/12/1884 at St. Thomas’s, Leeds.
William was a Brass Riveter/Founder, Sarah Jane was a tailoress, her father was Thomas Watson. William’s father, Albert Young, according to the marriage certificate was a gardener.
They had three girls, Elizabeth, Katherine and my grandmother Margaret, who married Herbert Harding in 1920 and had my mother, Gertrude, in 1925 in Leeds, West Yorkshire.
I have found some information on a William Young, born at Cadda Killinurney, Leitrim, whose parents were listed as Patrick Young who married Hannah Fletcher. I have found nothing on Albert.
Any information would be very welcome.
