This week I heard that the Yorkshire Sculpture Park near Wakefield had been voted the ‘Best Yorkshire Attraction’ by visitors to the Yorkshire’s Magnificent Attractions website. Second was the Yorkshire Wildlife Park near Doncaster and third the National Media Museum in Bradford. All are splendid places to visit and prove that in our county it’s not only the dales and moors that attract visitors. It got me wondering what people would vote for as their Best Natural Yorkshire Attraction. Malham Cove perhaps, or maybe Bempton Cliffs? How about Roseberry Topping or Ingleton Falls, Penyghent or Ingleborough… Gordale Scar, Semmerwater – Sutton Bank, the Hole of Horcum or Flamborough Head? The list goes on. Let me know which is your favourite and we’ll announce the winner in a future Dalesman.

My favourite spot in all of Yorkshire has to be Sutton Bank. When we arrive in Yorkshire, all the way from across the pond in New England, we make a beeline for Sutton Bank and walk the path down the edge of the cliff and sit in the grass and take in all the fabulous beauty of the Yorkshire landscape. Pure heaven.
