While driving through Nidderdale to a job last Friday I couldn’t resist making a slight detour to Brimham Rocks. The place has held a fascination for me (and thousands of others) for many years and every time I visit there seems to be another intriguing angle or shape I’d not seen before. Take this picture… how many ‘human face’ profiles can you spot within it? There’s serious talk at the moment about stretching the Yorkshire Dales and Lake District National Parks to meet in the north western edge of the county. The area around the Howgills, Eden Valley and Mallerstang is certainly worthy of consideration but so too in my mind are great stretches of Nidderdale. The evidence is clear to see from Brimham.
