Giant Newfoundland dogs will put their best paws forward in Dalby Forest this weekend.

The huge canines, weighing up to 14 stone, will be raising funds for the Yorkshire Air Ambulance and Scarborough and Ryedale Mountain Rescue by transporting forest fresh Christmas trees to revellers’ cars in special carts in return for a donation.

Back in their native Canada Newfies are working dogs who historically dragged fishing nets from the sea as they are fabulous swimmers having web-footed paws.  They have been a massive festive hit since making their debuts in the 8,600 acre forest near Pickering last year.

They will be in Dalby over the next two weekends (8/9 and 15/16 December).
