Our fourth annual Yorkshire Rural Awards culminated in a tremendous presentation evening at Harrogate Pavilions on Thursday evening. TV presenter John Craven hosted the event at which many top Yorkshire dignitaries attended to pay tribute to our worthy rural heroes. Now very used to the limelight, the Calendar Girls picked up the Yorkshireman/woman of the Year Award for their incredible fundraising efforts which have seen them tot up some £2.5m for Leukaemia Research.
Dr W R (Bill) Mitchell, a former Dalesman editor, deservedly took the Lifetime Achievement Award for his dedication to recording the history, heritage and wildlife of the Yorkshire Dales and Moors.
