Due to staff holidays and extra production work it’s been difficult to get out of the office recently. At these busy times I try to snatch an hour out in the evenings when, with a softer light coming from the west, the Dales put on a different face. I took this shot of Ingleborough from Chapel-le-Dale at about 6.30pm. Most day tippers are on their way home but on this occasion a couple were just parking the car before beginning a walk up the table-topped peak. Their goal was to sit on the top of Ingleborough and watch the sunset over Morecambe Bay – something they had done twenty years previously. They spoke enthusiastically about their original adventure, and I felt quite moved by the way the Dales had evoked such powerful memories. It was a good sunset that night; I hope they captured another unforgettable moment.
