We’re excited to announce we have a new columnist joining The Dalesman team in January’s edition.

Leeds-born Katie Rushworth, a familiar face to many of you on ITV’s Love Your Garden, has written her first Gardening Club column.

Katie is a part of the presenting/gardening team on the TV show which has been running since 2011.

Still living in Yorkshire, she has been self employed as a gardener and garden designer for nearly a decade, running her own business The Queen of Spades.

Katie found her passion and skill for gardening when she first did garden maintenance locally in Yorkshire. She decided to turn this love affair with gardening into a career after studying horticulture at night school and working part time at her local garden centre. Katie has a Foundation Degree in Garden Design and takes pride in having the skills to maintain and design gardens from both a horticulture and design-based perspective.

Katie’s first book Plants, Beds and Borders was published by Kyle Books in 2016, helping people to explore the joys of gardening with her expert guidance. Katie has worked with many high-profile brands including Tongs Garden Centre, Silverline Tools, IRO Timber and Yorkshire Gold Tea.

In 2015, Katie entered the Harrogate Flower Show as part of her degree and won the Premier Award, as well as the People’s Choice Award. She is also the proud winner of two Ilkley in Bloom awards.

Katie will be writing her Gardening Club on a bimonthly basis – it coincides with the launch of our Dalesman Gardening Club too so don’t miss your January edition.
