You’d hope a train company would be good at geography, but rather embarrassingly, Newtork Rail has managed to mix up Huddersfield and Harrogate.

Earlier this week, the company said it was investing millions in upgrading Harrogate station, but today a spokesman had to admit it actually meant Huddersfield – 36 miles away in West Yorkshire.

Speaking on BBC Radio York earlier, Mr Verster said he should have spotted the error in a press release and “profusely apologised” for the error.

Well, you know, they do both begin with a ‘H’ – easy mistake to make. Perhaps the cash for the next Kings Cross upgrade will head to Kingston upon Hull.
