Yorkshire has some of the most amazing views in the country. And you don’t have to be in the Dales or on the North York Moors or coast to enjoy them. The view from Mountain near Queensbury over Bradford and Ilkley Moor and beyond is excellent. Looking from Hartshead towards Emley Moor is grand, too. But the best of the lot in this part of the West Riding has got to be the 360 degree view from Castle Hill near Almondbury. I was lucky enough to visit this ancient site on a sunny day last week and although it was a little hazy in the far distance the panorama was breathtaking. The Victorian tower at the top of the knoll opens until mid September but even without climbing the steps to its viewing area the aspect is well worth the trip. Photo shows the view west from the tower.
