I have traced my Family tree back to Settrington in East Yorkshire. My Grt. Grt. Grt. Grt. Great Grandfather Richard Edmanson married Anne Bottrell on 23 February 1764 in Settrington. He died their in 1779.
I would like to know where he came from as there is no record of his birth in the Settrington parish records. There is of course the possibility that he arrived in Settrington and had his name spelt incorrectly by the Parish Clerk as there is of course a strong likelihood that he would be unable to read or write.

My family origins are from Knaresborough, when i can trace my now hyphenated surname back to 1854 , for sure , and suggestions back to 1840.
It is the records pre 1837 i e parish, which hopefully can show when the two names became joined .i understand that the double surnames became fashionable around 1800 so that would be a start.
Linking the Ellerker part to one of the main branches of the family would be a real bonus .

Samuel Ellis had a daughter, Olive, who married T W Travers, probably early in the 1900s. Olive had at least two grandchildren, Christopher and Bridget, who are probably now around 60 years old and were last known to be living in Manchester and the Lake District, respectively. If anyone can put me in touch with them I would be most grateful as I am researching the family history and the Ellis side seem to have lost touch with the Travers side.

Mary (1777-1842). On 11 Nov 1794 Mary married Thomas GRAVES,
William (1783-1836). On 23 Jul 1805 William married Mary ELLERTHORPE. I am related through this union.

My ancestor William Ellison (1780-1845 ?) was born in Yorkshire, England. He married and lived with his family in Sandy Creek, Oswego County, New York. He appears there about 1815. His first child was born 1820. His parents may have been Benjamin and Elizabeth of Harewood or William and Hannah of Harewood. His naturalization record in Oswego County, New York said he was born 1780, York, England. He submitted papers on Feb. 19, 1844. He is not on the 1850 Census. He probably died between 1844 and 1850. I wonder if he served in the War of 1812? I would love to hear from anyone who has any information.

John England was born near Bingley in 1807, the son of William England a Wool comber. I cannot find any trace of William as he does not appear to be listed in the 1841 census and no information other than his name on the register for John’s birth. Any information and ideas would be most welcome.
