Even though I have a little moan about my dodgy knee now and then, there’s nothing better I like than being out in the Yorkshire countryside. Putting together July’s Dalesman, which is out this week, I realised how lucky I am to be able to enjoy the freedom of the hills and dales. For included this month is a story of how difficult it is for people with disabilities to share our glorious countryside. The national park pioneered an Access for All initiative fifteen years ago and we’ve been along to see how the scheme is progressing. Also in this issue we see how the new rock climbing routes in Settle is affecting the town’s businesses and take a look at a new walk through Washburn and Nidderdale… I think my knee’s already swelling up just at the thought of all this activity.
