Irton House Farm’s holiday cottages, beautifully located at the north end of Bassenthwaite Lake, offer outstanding self-catering accommodation for families and the less mobile. There, you can enjoy breakfast with views of sun rise over Skiddaw, and later relax watching it set from the patio, after an adventurous day among the fells.

The working farm is set in an elevated position among 240 acres of pasture and woodland, and between March and December offers guests uninterrupted views of Skiddaw, Bassenthwaite Lake and the Northern Fells. The Swallows is one of five cottages where husband and wife Nic and Lindsay and their daughter Holly offer a warm welcome to guests in the cottages. The farm, on which Lindsay and Kim breed Texel and Swiss Valais sheep, also offers a small campsite and the Lake View Caravan. Each of the cottages has recently been renovated, and offer level access throughout, as well as electric beds, riser recliner chairs and wet room showers, making them ideal for those who might be less mobile.
