Dalesman breaks new ground today with the launch of our first visitor guide to the Yorkshire Dales. With 72 years of publishing behind us we thought it was time we shared some of the knowledge we’ve gained with those hundreds of thousands of visitors who head to the Dales each year. A lot of blood sweat and tears have gone into producing this 224-guide, which will be published each April, with a winter/spring version in October. We hope that it will not only provide vital and interesting information for tourists and residents alike but also boost local businesses who need all the help they can get during tough times. The guide is being presented to those involved in tourism today at the Welcome to Yorkshire Y11 event being held in Leeds and will be on sale to the public from April 20 (only £2.99 – see our website).
A few more weekends like the one just gone will certainly help the tourism trade here in the Dales. I took a stroll up to Castleberg Rock in Settle yesterday and it was great to hear the birds singing in the woods, the blossom in full bloom, climbers enjoying their sport on the new routes on the rock, and the town centre throng with visitors.
