He has just been named Dalesman magazine’s Yorkshireman of the Year, capping an amazing twelve months that saw him win a second Olympic gold medal during ‘Super Saturday’ at London 2012. Now, audiences can find out first hand what it feels like to win not just one, but two, gold medals at the Olympic Games.

Andrew Triggs Hodge, who recently picked up the top award at the Dalesman Awards 2013 will take time out of his busy schedule to speak at this year’s Grassington Festival.

He will be speaking about his amazing experiences and inspiring the audience with his tales of sporting success.

Andrew will be joining the festival straight from presenting a workshop at Upper Wharfedale, his former school, when he will be talking with students about how he achieved such an amazing success at last year’s Olympic Games.

In particular Andrew will encourage and inspire students to follow their dreams and their chosen path and to believe in themselves.  He will be joined at the workshop by Tim Spackman from Skipton Building Society and by Helena Horsburgh, a student from St Catherine’s, Oxford, Andrew’s former college.

Andrew’s talk at Grassington Festival will be held on Monday 24 June at the Town Hall in Grassington at 7pm.  The evening will be chaired by Ian Douglass, well known as a long serving Deputy Head at Ermysted’s Grammar School, Skipton and for his flamboyant announcements at Upper Wharfedale Rugby Club.  They will be joined by Dales sportsman and champion fell-runner, Ted Mason during the second half for a panel discussion.

Andrew is a bred Yorkshireman, brought up in Hebden – be sure to take a trip to see his golden post box in the village – and come along to hear all about his amazing experiences and to be inspired!
