I spent a couple of hours above Malham Cove while most people were watching some wedding or other. However, the peregrine falcons remained better hidden than the late Osama Bin Laden. The RSPB report that the female has not emerged from behind lots of foliage for several days. Chicks should be hatching this week and then it won’t be long until we catch a glimpse of the new arrivals. I really like this part of the Dales with all its exposed limestone and walking up the dry valley of Watlowes, out of the strong breeze, was a real pleasure — give me this to walking up the aisle of Westminster Abbey any day.

I too did exactly the same thing. A long country walk. I hate being one of the crowd. I guess you and I are just like Wainwright.
