Tallentire
I have traced some relatives to the Ravensworth area. George Tallentire
(born around 1793) was sentanced to transportation at the York
Assizes in 1817 and transported as a convict to NSW in 1818.
I have been told by someone else that he married a Mary Allison
in 1814(??). I have not been able to find any information on
the internet regarding George and his family and if he did marry
Mary Allison. If someone in the area could help, it would be
most appreciated.

I have traced my g.grandfather, William Tankard, back to his birth in 1842 in
Horbury. He was a stone mason. He married my g.grandmother, Sarah, in 1869

adopted two small girls, named Martha and Jane E Mallinson, possibly children
of a deceased relative. Could anyone enlighten me please or possibly give
me information on William or Sarah's parents? Thanks in anticipation.

I would like to trace my father's past. His name was Herbert Harry Tasker and he was a miner in the local pits around the Hemsworth area between 1910 and 1915 but I am unable to find any trace of him in the parish records. He later played rugby union as a professional in the 1920s but again I cannot find any records. He fought in the First World War and was a mule driver in the Second World War. He was in reserved occupation as a pipe fitter in the mills around the Barnsley area. He was married twice – his first wife's name is unknown and his second wife's name was Majory Elaine Baylie from Pudsey. She had three sisters – Dorothy, Joan and Connie. Does anybody remember anything about them?

My uncle has started our family tree and has only been able to reach back to around 1794. I'm looking for any links to the Thompson family, with the oldest known marriage as John Thompson (1794 - 1826) and Margaret Thompson (née Padget). The birth and death date is unknown for Margaret but she was born in Leven, East Riding Yorkshire. They had three children: John, Eliza and James Dales Thompson. If anyone has any information on any previous ancestors please contact me.

I am looking for descendants of Charles Thompson and Miriam Bingham.
Charles was born in 1816 in Sheffield and Miriam was born in 1816 Handsworth, Sheffield.
They had one son that I know of, Clement Bingham Thompson, but possibly a daughter named Annie.
Clement Bingham Thompson went on to marry Hannah Stones Beard. I know the story from there but would be interested in going back beyond Charles and Miriam if anyone has knowledge of them in their research.

Henry Towns (born 1778) lived in Pontefract and was an attorney in the late 1700s until his death aged 39 in 1917. His wife was Sarah and he had four children: Sarah (born 1809), Ann (born 1811), Harriet (born 1813), and Lucy (born 1815). His parents were probably Joseph and Alice Towns. Information sought about this man (particularly his professional life) and his family either from historians and relatives.

We are planning to hold a Townsend family reunion and would like to have more information about the family. My great grandfather was born in 1831 in the Parish of Lund, East Yorkshire. His parents were Wm. Townshend and Elizabeth Moorfoot. My great grandfather came to Canada and settled in the Kitchen/Waterloo area of Ontario. He married Mary Brighton and they had 13 children. I have been to Lund on two different occasions, in 1972 and 1996. At the time I wasn't particularly interested in searching the family background, but I am now. I would be happy to hear from anyone who might know of some background on the family.

Train
My mother's maiden name was Train. She lives Hull where she moved to in the 1930s and I can trace the family back through York, Pocklington, Little Driffield and to Woodmansey where the family lived in 1838.
I am seeking the parents of Christopher Train who has no consistent date or place of birth. The earliest date of birth is 1811 in Scotland (possibly Penicuik), other places of birth include Northumberland and various locations in the East Riding. From my research I believe that his father, possibly George, was from one of the large Train families in either Skidby or Woodmansey.
Christopher married Margaret, née Stork, on 1 February 1836 in Skidby.
In 1871, Christopher's son George, my great-great-grandfather, is recorded as living at 20, Little Driffield. His children, George, Jane Isobel, Annie Elizabeth and John, my Great Grandfather, were all born in either Little Driffield or Driffield.
Does anyone know Christopher's parents please?

I am trying to find out about my Grandfathers family. My Grandfather John Turner
was born 02/06/1888 and I believe he had a brother Richard who could have been
born in 1886, and a sister we think might have been Louise. We were given to
understand that his parents were killed in an accident, maybe something to
do with a train! On or around 1902. They lived in the area of Stanley in
Wakefield. John Turner married Hilda Firth in 1913 and they had 3 children,
Edna, Audrey and Dorothy, we believe dorothy died as a small infant in about
1917/1918.
If anyone has any information would you please contact me, anything at all
that might help solve this mystery. My mother is approaching her 82nd birthday

Turner
My
family lived in Earby for several generations until my mother
left in 1980. Im now in the process of researching my Turner
family history in Earby and I've now come to an apparent brick
wall and wonder if anyone can offer any help or suggestions.
Previous response to a different request last year has provided
a wonderful worldwide source of contacts and information.
With
the use of the Thornton in Craven Parish Registers and the local
census I'm sure about the family line back to the birth of Joseph
Turner in 1802. Thornton
in Craven births record:
Joseph Turner (illegitimate) baptised 13/6/1802 of Sarah, reputed father John
Cock carpenter Earby - Date of Birth 7/6/1802
In
the 1841 census Sarah (mother) is living with Joseph and his
wife Sarah and their family and is aged 75. Sarah's death (27th
Sept 1843) at age 76 in Earby in the Parish of Thornton was registered
on 30th Sept 1843, Sarah Turner (daughter in law) being the informant,
also living in Earby.
So
here we have Sarah (born c1767), however the Parish Registers
have no such birth recorded. So far other local registers searched
don't help. I'm convinced that Sarah must have had other relatives
in Earby and that she herself was probably born in Earby as much
effort at the time would have gone in to make sure she was in
her Parish of Settlement.
I
would like to find any existing documentation in addition to
the Parish records or births, marriages and deaths. I was wondering
if anyone has done this before and might know anything that might
help me. Earby in this part of Craven where the boundaries have
changed being a difficult area as the records which exist are
spread in Yorkshire and Lancashire. Has anyone any ideas where
I should go to go next, or has anyone done any detailed Earby
family history research in this period 1750 to 1800?
Any
ideas or suggestions would be appreciated.
