I am trying to find out more information about my great-great-great-great-grandfather, Ralph Kay, born circa 1747. He died in Scorton, but no evidence that he was born there.
He married one of/both Margaret Simpson and Elizabeth ?.
Ralph had a number of children:
Thomas Kay baptised 26/11/1769 in Bolton on Swale;
Ralph Kay baptised 22/05/1774;
John Kay baptised 22/05/1774;
Margaret Kay baptised 01/08/1779;
John Kay baptised 17/06/1782;
William Kay baptised 24/04/1785
Could there be a family connection between these people (or the descendants) and the Kay's of Ellerton on Swale, or the Kay's of Danby Wiske? For example: George and Elizabeth Kay, farmer, Ellerton on Swale had two daughters - Jane Kay baptised 25/08/1822; Elizabeth Kay bapt 15/08/1824
And what of the following baptisms in Danby Wiske:
John, son of John Kay and Dorothy (née Lowson) baptised 03/01/1733
Francis, son of John Kay and Dorothy (née Lowson) baptised 06/12/1741
Thomas, son of John Kay and Mary baptised April 1744
Margaret, daughter of John Kay and Mary baptised 29/04/1750
And has anyone any thoughts on the following in Scorton:
Ann Kay buried 13/04/1816 Scorton aged 1 year
Margaret Kay buried 25/09/1820 Scorton, infant
Mary, daughter of Elizabeth Kay of Scorton baptised 30/11/1754

He then moved to Quesanbeyan, near present-day Canberra, and married Eliza Ann HUNT, from Fishlake, South Yorkshire, in 1844. I believe he was a wool-classer by trade. I would also love information on his parents, George and his wife Mary Ann Alice (neé Rylah) who married on May 5th, 1844. This surname goes back to Andrew Mercer Kilvington, a Linen Weaver Free 1716 (burried Feb. 13, 1769. Does he go back further? Thank you for any information.

on the 9th February 1953. My mother's maiden name was Ethel Mary Riley. She
was married to my father whose name was John Kirkbright (also known as Jack
Kirkbright) in Australia some time about 1947 or 48. John Kirkbright was a
seaman in the British Merchant Navy during WWII. He served on an oil tanker
that was sunk by a Japanese (I believe) submarine during the war. He was one
of a handful of survivors of that attack. When rescued he was brought to Australia
where he remained at least until the time we lost contact with him. I have
a brother named Brian Leonard Neville Kirkbright born in 1955. We lost contact
with my father in about 1957 when I was 4 years old. I have never had any contact
with my father or any of the members of my family. I would dearly love to have
contact with any of his family and to find out if my father is still alive
(though he would have to be very old indeed!) or where he might be buried.
My intuition tells me he may have had other children after my brother and I,
maybe even here in Australia. I am keen to make contact with any brother/s
or sister/s that I may have. If anyone has any knowledge that they can share
with me please contact me through the email address provided. I will be eternally
grateful for any assistance you can give in my quest to find any of my father's
family.

Kirkus
I am doing a one name study of my husband's family Kirkus, which includes any variant such as Kirkhouse, Kirkas, Kirkes etc. His branch is based around Hull, and though I don't think it is closely connected with the Kirkhouses of Tyneside, Durham and further north, who knows?

Kitchingman
In researching the origins of my surname I was informed by one of the Heralds
that we came from monastic kitchen men - ordinary cooks were called Cook, but
the monastic ones were named Kitchynman. If this is really so, and the earliest
record for a Kitchynman I have is in 1352, just after the Black Death, could
this mean that we originated in Rievaulx, Jervaulx or Byland, all of which
are centred in the North Riding from which area we seem to descend? Idle speculation
perhaps but can any reader confirm this assertion?

Knowles
Looking for information about the family of Knowles living at Pateley Bridge from the early 1800s to the middle 1800 when James's son John Edwin appears to have shifted and in 1881 is listed as a single boarder Mason appears to have shifted some time later. I know he married a Mary Ann Brown, no idea when or where, and went to New Zealand. They had a son Richard (my half sisters grandfather) in 1889, not sure where he was born either.
Some of the family are buried at St Cuthbert's Church, Pateley Bridge and as there are only two headstones there I can't imagine the family living a long time in the area.
