Kirkbright
Benjamin Kirkbright was the father of Wilfred, Veronica, Lizzy, Agnes, Steven and Francis.
Mary married William Carroll and was the mother of Evelyn, Billy, Vincent, Margaret, Joe, Irene, Philomena, Agnes, Anthony, Alan and Phillip. She was also the grandmother of Denis (Dan) Pluck!
John was the father of Benny, Joe, George and Tommy. He was also the grandfather of Billy and Vince Kirkbright (father Joe).
Margaret married William O'Donnell and was the mother of Agnes, Theresa, Lucy, Helen, Norah, Winnie and Joan.
Benjamin was the head of the family and had lost a leg in a factory accident when working at Pateley Bridge. He converted to the Catholic faith on his deathbed although his wife Bridget said that he feared neither God nor the Devil!
Bridget (nee O'Sullivan) came to England from Ireland at the time of the famine of 1842. When crossing the Irish Sea by ferry she was robbed and arrived in Liverpool penniless and only able to speak gaelic.
There is a photo dated 1892. Bemjamin senior was my great grandfather and Benjamin junior was my grandfather.
I'm trying to make the link with the family move from Pately Bridge to industrial teesside (South Bank) my grandfather, I think is mentioned in the 1902 census aged 29 in the parish of Coatham Redcar North Yorkshire. Any help please?

Kirkbright
My name is Christopher John Kirkbright. I was born in Werris Creek NSW Australia on the 9th February 1953. My mother's maiden name was Ethel Mary Riley. She was married to my father whose name was John Kirkbright (also known as Jack Kirkbright) in Australia some time about 1947 or 48. John Kirkbright was a seaman in the British Merchant Navy during WWII. He served on an oil tanker that was sunk by a Japanese (I believe) submarine during the war. He was one of a handful of survivors of that attack. When rescued he was brought to Australia where he remained at least until the time we lost contact with him. I have a brother named Brian Leonard Neville Kirkbright born in 1955. We lost contact with my father in about 1957 when I was 4 years old. I have never had any contact with my father or any of the members of my family. I would dearly love to have contact with any of his family and to find out if my father is still alive (though he would have to be very old indeed!) or where he might be buried. My intuition tells me he may have had other children after my brother and I, maybe even here in Australia. I am keen to make contact with any brother/s or sister/s that I may have. If anyone has any knowledge that they can share with me please contact me through the email address provided. I will be eternally grateful for any assistance you can give in my quest to find any of my father's family.

Kitchingman
In researching the origins of my surname I was informed by one of the Heralds that we came from monastic kitchen men - ordinary cooks were called Cook, but the monastic ones were named Kitchynman. If this is really so, and the earliest record for a Kitchynman I have is in 1352, just after the Black Death, could this mean that we originated in Rievaulx, Jervaulx or Byland, all of which are centred in the North Riding from which area we seem to descend? Idle speculation perhaps but can any reader confirm this assertion?
