My grandfather was Harold William Read Hoare who during the First World War ran the Black Horse Inn at Healey Nr Masham. Towards the end of his life he lodged with a Mrs Boynton at Station Road Masham and finally in Mill Hill Masham I have his last letter to my dad dated 27.8.47. I wonder if anyone has any recollection of either the Black Horse Healey or my grandfather or even old photos of Mill Hill or Healey. I have a very old photo of the Black Horse which I understand is now a private house and ceased to be a pub around 1945 when I was born.

I wonder if any of your readers are still around bearing his name? If so, I would be only too pleased to send them this small but delightfully interesting document.
