Dearing
My great grandparents were John Dearing and Anne Mott Dearing; my grandfather was John William Dearing and had siblings; Geoffrey, Harry, Herbert, and Elizabeth - possibly more. My grandfather died 10 years before I was born, so I have only my late father's passed-down stories to aid me. My grandfather said he was from Hull on the Humber, and that as a child he played in Sherwood forest. Solid recorded facts that I have are that my great uncles Herbert and Harry Dearing, who died in WWI were born in Frodingham, enlisted in Beverley, and listed Driffield as their last residence when they were killed in action in France. We were told that their names were inscribed on a War Memorial - I think this may be the one in Frodingham. As far as I know, the family all either left the Yorkshire area or died between 1914 & 1918. I believe Geoffrey and Elizabeth Dearing went to Australia; my grandfather, John Dearing travelled from Hull to Liverpool, to Cork, to Nova Scotia and ended up in the U.S.A. I do not know if any family is still left in the area, but if anyone has heard of these people or has any information about them, I would be eternally grateful for any information or leads.

Dent
I am looking for any information I can get about my gandfather John Dent. He was married to Catherine Quinessy Edwards and I believe he died in the late 1970s, and grandma 10 yrs or so later. At one time he was a tennant farmer at Flint Mill on the River Wharf. And we believe both he and grandma were in service to the Thompson-Royds. Grandad was also in the 8th army (a Desert Rat) in North Africa and has a whole slew of medals. John Dent had a cousin Jeff Richmond of Copmanthorpe. His mother was Margaret Dent whom I believe to have been John's sister.

Grandma & grandad's solicitors were Ware & Kay or Warren & Kay of Wetherby. My brother and myself think Grandad was cremated at a cemetary in Wetherby, but we can't remember any details and have no other living relatives to ask. I feel as though we know a lot but I have no dates, grandma was born Dec 1900 and we think grandad's birthday was also in Dec, but we don't know what year or how to find out.

Any help or information will be most gratefully received. I know there are relatives out there and we hope to find some.
